                                INCONSEQUENTIAL THINGS

This body of work is based on a number of sprue sets from Airfix modelling kits that I retrieved from the rubbish bin at my home. My practice centres around explorations of found objects and things that others might deem of little consequence. I believe I inherited this trait from my father who much to the despair of my mother, rarely came home without some treasure he had pulled from a skip.

My husband is an avid aircraft modeller and during a recent clean out, he discarded many sprue sets, he no longer needed. I retrieved these sprue sets because I was drawn to their patterns when traced out on paper and decided to explore the potential of repositioning these patterns into new patterning and solid forms. Currently, I am looking at the negative space created within the patterns I have drawn and I am simultaneously exploring the possibilities of these flat patterns when transposed three dimensionally into glass to capture and dispel light.
